a twisty leaf wreath tutorial from Petrina
Try saying that quickly with a mouthful of chocolate biscuit!!
I've just had 2 weeks' holiday here so I had a bit of extra crafting time which was lovely. I've been fiddling around with pipe-cleaners (I think the ones I used were actually for cleaning pipes - only 15cm long!!) and today I will share this tutorial with you. I'll be back later in the week with another one using a similar technique.
Start with a pipe cleaner and a length of white leaf ribbon. I used approximately 25cm. I hooked the pipe-cleaner over at the end and then wound the ribbon all around it until I reached the end.
I used a bull-dog clip to hold that piece in place.
Next I took a length of green leaf ribbon and wound that over the top of the white. I wound that one in a different direction but I'm not sure that makes a whole lot of difference.
Finally I held the whole thing in place with a few stitches. Hey presto - a pretty wreath!! Obviously if you have longer pipe cleaners (or you join them together) you could make larger wreaths which would look so pretty on spring-themed layouts - or Christmas cards of course!!
Here is the finished layout using the wreath. I've also used:
Paper from the Prima 8.5x11in paper pad - Melody.
Black and white spotted ribbon
White crochet flower
BasicGrey basics black alphabet stickers
